Nyota Figgs is currently the City Clerk of Calumet City. Figgs is paid over $125,000 annually with a healthy expense account by the tax payers. This VERY excessive compensation structure was implemented by former Mayor Michelle Qualkenbush. One would think that Figgs would at least put in a semi-weekly appearance for the substantial sum paid to her. Unfortunately, she has not been in the office since about June 1st of this year! Figgs says that she is on medical leave, but it has now been over 5 months and she was out gathering political signatures.
