On Friday night, multiple fights occurred at Homewood-Flossmoor High School during the game against Bolingbrook. No one was taken into custody and security will be increased.

The brawls were confirmed by Flossmoor police Chief Carl Estelle who said at least five fights broke out. Numerous people were detained. The participants were handcuffed but released after tensions eased. Video camera footage is being evaluated and a determination will be made regarding any possible charges.

“Homewood-Flossmoor High School is deeply disappointed by the behavior of several individuals at last Friday’s football game,” Superintendent Jennifer Norrell said in a statement. “Their actions do not reflect the pride, respect, and sportsmanship that define Viking Excellence.”

According to Carla Erdey, District 233 director of communications and community engagement, new security protocols will be announced before the next game.

“We remain committed to creating positive experiences for our athletes, families, and guests at all H-F events,” Erdey said.
