At the Cook County Democratic Party’s slating event, Lyons Township Assessor Pat Hynes was endorsed over incumbent Fritz Kaegi. The majority of committeemen rebuffed Kaegi overwhelmingly.
Kaegi won election in 2018 beating incumbent Joe Berrios. Fritz ran as a progressive reformer. He also benefited massively from a media environment which blamed Berrios for property taxes, even though the increases over time have largely been due to school funding in Illinos.
In the job, Kaegi’s tenure has been disastrous with double digit tax hikes being served up onto homeowners in the south suburbs while wealthier home owners in the northern suburbs pay less.
This was not due to anything other than Kaegi’s “reforms.”
As Lyons Township Assessor, Hynes is well qualified to undo the harmful and erratic changes made by Fritz Kaegi.
