Mayor Christopher Clark of Harvey has passed away at age 45 after battling an unknown illness. Details surrounding his death have not been released.

The Village of Harvey issued a statement saying, it is “deeply saddened” by his death and extending condolences to his family, loved ones, and the Harvey community. Officials said city services and operations will continue without interruption.

“Mayor Clark was a devoted public servant and a dear personal friend. His integrity, vision and love for the City of Harvey will continue to guide us as we grieve his loss in service to the residents of Harvey, with our hearts foremost with his family,” said city attorney Keri-Lyn J. Krafthefer.

Black and purple bunting was placed on the Harvey City hall building in honor of Clark and the US flag was lowered to half staff.

A city council meeting is set to take place on Monday evening at 6pm to appoint an acting mayor.
